[sticky post] A change to my journal — most entries are friends only
Most entries are now friends only. The casual visitor will encounter posts about LGBTQ rights, book and film recs, the occasional bit of hilarity and my fanfiction.

A word on the fanfiction: The Bertie Series, the Frisky Series, Anatomical Knowledge Prize, Pillow Talk and Jeeves Takes Matters Into His Own Hands are only posted on my journal. These were experimental pieces that I never posted to any community. Feel free to read them, but please do not link them anywhere. These fics were previously locked to friends, and I'll lock them again if I find they've been linked. Please respect my wishes on this.

While I'll likely friend people who ask, I'll take a look at your LJ first. If you just have an intro post or you post very, very sporadically, I probably will not friend you back.

If you're just starting out on LJ and want to friend me, go ahead. Once we get to know each other through comments on our journals, I'll feel more comfy friending you back.
mistmisty75 on August 28th, 2009 04:11 pm (UTC)
Can I be the first to say "what ho" and introduce myself? I have only recently discovered your fics (slowly working my way through them) and I am rather in awe of you. I have wanted, many times, to leave a comment, but always held back. After all, you don't know me from Adam and with the obscene amount of praise I'm longing to heap on you, I was bound to sound like a snivelling sycophant...

I'd rather like to add you to my friends' list (and vice versa) but I could understand it if you preferred not to. I have, after all, very little to offer in return.
storyfanstoryfan on September 1st, 2009 01:04 am (UTC)
Constructive comments are a lot to offer. I shall friend you.
I say! I may be stupid, but I'm not clever!: Laughable - QImxdp on August 29th, 2009 11:29 am (UTC)
I've always disagreed with that Pulitzerthingy ;P
That's all :)
Charie Caphinecharie_caphine on August 30th, 2009 09:04 pm (UTC)
Don't know about missing Pulitzer material, but I certainly wouldn't like to miss your stories. Would you consider friending me? I'll friend you back if that's required.
storyfanstoryfan on September 1st, 2009 01:02 am (UTC)
I would like to be friended back if that's all right with you. I don't post flist fics very often, only when the spirit moves me. They're usually just fun little practice pieces, not always beta'd.
Charie Caphinecharie_caphine on September 1st, 2009 07:51 am (UTC)
Absolutely. About time I stopped lurking on your journal, regardless.
brown_polyesterbrown_polyester on September 8th, 2009 10:42 am (UTC)
Oh noes! I don't know you, but I want to be able to read your stories! Please?
storyfanstoryfan on September 8th, 2009 01:24 pm (UTC)
I'll friend you based on that House fic you wrote a while ago. I don't generally read House fic because I've never seen the show (I'm a minority, I know), but I did like that piece.

Be sure and post once in a while. I like to read the stuff on my friends' LJs. I almost always commment, too.

Adding to friend's list
I stumbled upon your story, "Jeeves and the Missing Memories" through the Indeed_Sir site and was charmed by both the premise and your skill in writing. May I please be allowed to read more of your work?
I will admit to writing very little in my own journal, but I do try to comment on the writing of others when I can. Reading well done stories such as your own are a much appreciated break from the everyday grind.
With Admiration,

Re: Adding to friend's list
Sure. Let's friend each other. And thank you for the compliments, too.

I'll make you an icon and call you a friend? *puppy-dog eyes* I loved your stuff anyway, and what else is LJ for other then making friends you never really see but you read their works and comment on in the sense of "I wish I had thought of that and pulled it off like you did" type thing...

...wow I babble a lot. Anyway, *waves!* Hello!
storyfanstoryfan on November 15th, 2009 09:58 pm (UTC)
An icon? Well, I can't resist that. I've already friended you, and I'd love an icon of Gale Harold from Queer as Folk. No hurry and no pressure, though.

And thanks for saying you love my stuff. Hopefully you like the flist-locked things.
Felicia Angel: kiss already!felicia_angel on November 16th, 2009 02:18 am (UTC)
Yays! Okay, I'll see what I can find. Anything in particular (I don't follow that show ^^; I have too many shows right now anyway) you want for Gale or just random fun?
storyfanstoryfan on November 16th, 2009 02:43 am (UTC)
I'm all about random fun. You do whatever you like. And thanks!
Felicia Angel: going through mailfelicia_angel on November 16th, 2009 04:02 am (UTC)

haz your icon. the writing is the first part of a song/poem by Leonard Cohen. I know you said take my time, and I found that picture plus it went well with the verse.

and you can ask what it says, I know it's insanely small font.
storyfan: gale/leonard cohenstoryfan on November 16th, 2009 04:26 am (UTC)
It's lovely. thank you! The type is a little too small to see, so I'd love a translation. Thanks. I've credited you on my icon page, too.

Felicia Angel: torchwood-squee!felicia_angel on November 16th, 2009 04:34 am (UTC)
yays! I'm glad you like it.

The one to the right says "A thousand kisses deep" (the title of the poem). The right side says:

"you came to me this morning
and you handled me like meat
you'd have to be a man to know
how good that feels
how sweet..."

....*excessive blush* yes, Leonard Cohen does not have bad words in his poems...just really, really, REALLY nice imagery at times
storyfan: gale harold greenstoryfan on November 16th, 2009 05:22 am (UTC)
Gawd, that's sexy. I'm going to have to look into this guy. And thank you again for the lovely icon.
Felicia Angel: kiss already!felicia_angel on November 16th, 2009 06:07 am (UTC)
yeah, Cohen is good at stuff like that. his most famous song is "Hallelujah", which appeared in the Watchman movie and in Shrek.

oddly enough, it appeared in two different scenes and while one reminded you that it can be pure sexy, the other said it's sad too. He's good at doing sexy and sad songs like that.

he's also the Awesome of all Awesometown. Those who are not bowing down to Stephen Fry are doing so to Cohen.

and I would gush more over him, but doing so means a longer reply.

Re: Invictation
I should have friended you back ages ago.
lady_carfax on January 3rd, 2010 03:13 pm (UTC)
What ho!

I'd love to be your friend and read more of your work :o)

I'm not much of a writer, but I post a lot of randomness :o)
storyfanstoryfan on January 3rd, 2010 03:39 pm (UTC)
Consider yourself friended. No one enjoys randomness more than I do. Except for perhaps random_nexus.

Oh oh, friends? :D I update my LJ too much probably, so feel free to kick me in the head if I say.... post 15 too many? *kidding* I meant, maybe 5.

Hallo! I'm from Russia and very sorry for errors in grammar. I very like your Jooster universe and read your fics with a great pleasure. Some of them are translated to russian by my friends from Russian Wodehouse society and I would like to read all of your wonderful stories. Please add me to your friend list. You are in my already! Thank you!
Salfeanix on June 16th, 2010 02:15 pm (UTC)
I'm hoping you'll keep me on your flist ;)

And thanks for my virtual cocktail, you are too sweet *hugs* It's my first official birthday present and it just might end up being the nicest one.
storyfanstoryfan on June 18th, 2010 04:23 am (UTC)
I hope your birthday was lovely, and you know I'd never take you off my flist.
pantropiapantropia on June 25th, 2010 03:58 pm (UTC)
What-ho. Er. I have come across some of these locked fics, and I would quite like to read them. :D I do update, but I'll admit to mostly being a fic-journal so when I'm not in a writing mood, I don't update much.
Mayrinmayrin on August 24th, 2010 05:42 am (UTC)
I've just began to read your "Missing Memories" story and am already enamored with it)) I've also seen several fanfiction recommendations where your works had been mentioned and would like it very much to read them and any of your future fics.
I admit that I don't update my journal very often, but I read my flist and try to comment whenever I can. Please, consider friending me back)
redpikeredpike on September 15th, 2010 03:23 am (UTC)
I have to admit, I'm totally hooked on Jeeves and Wooster. I have been a dedicated daily lurker of Lord of the Rings for the last nine years and promise to give you the same devotion if you friend me. I did write a few hobbit stories years ago, but cannot promise I will write J/W. What I will promise to do is read and reread your stories faithfully and give you feedback.
Elinaelina_elsu on November 3rd, 2010 06:53 pm (UTC)
Hia :D You keep popping up on my f-list and twitter all the time so I'll just friend you if you don't mind, hehee

I've been so slack with LJ this past week that I've totally missed this...

I'm so sorry that your dad is so sick, I can't imagine how hard it must be for you and your family. I hope he pulls through alright and my thoughts are definitely with you and Storyfamily right now xox Hang in there!
